“Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an that you might understand.”
[Surah Yusuf: Ayah 2]
The Arabic language is the most eloquent, understandable, deep and expressive of the meanings that might arise in one’s mind. Hence, the most honourable Book, was revealed in the most honourable language, to the most honourable Prophet and Messenger , delivered by the most honourable angel, in the most honourable land on earth with its revelation beginning during the most honourable month of the year, Ramadan. Indeed, the Qur’an is perfect in every respect.
[Tafsir ibn Kathir]
The Fajr Arabic programme is a unique blend of classical and contemporary Arabic language using best-practise teaching techniques which consider the different learning styles and teaching methods employed in the UK.
The programme works on all four language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking – to ensure a balanced and contextual understanding of the language and building an appreciation of the hidden cultural meanings and powerful rhetoric within Arabic.
The message of Islam has been delivered in the Arabic language and therefore its knowledge is intrinsic to understanding the Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah. Some scholars have stated that these two sources are not understood except with the understanding of the Arabic language and therefore it is necessary to learn Arabic as one of the primary Islamic sciences.
We believe that learning of the Arabic language should be accessible to everyone and have committed to teaching in an engaging and effective way so that students can converse with Arab speakers and scholars, benefit from Arabic media and access the vast libraries of literature recorded in Arabic.
